Birds of a Feather Flock Together... Nicaragua and Iran

Just as violence and imprisonment are meted out against any who seek to express an opinion counter to the interests of Nicaragua's oligarchy, the same is happening in Iran.   Think very seriously about freedom of peaceful protest and freedom of speech.  Are these essential to civil society or not?

My belief is that these are essential; that a government who represses freedom of assembly and freedom of speech does so in an attempt to cover up their failure and the failure of their ideology. Repression of freedom to assemble is a tell-tale sign of a society in decline - yes, even a place as poor and full of ignorance as Nicaragua, can decline further.
