Australian money in Costa Rica/El Salvador?

I'm in Guatemala, and here, the only banknotes that can be changed are US dollars, Canadian dollars, and I think Euros.*

Is it possible to exchange Australian dollars in El Salvador and/or Costa Rica?

*This includes the Banrural at Guatemala City airport, hidden around the corner from the arrivals section (before you leave the airport). I've tried a few other places, and noone will take or change Australian dollars
