Bocas del Toro

A few days ago, I read the following from Chester in Paso Ancho:

Per David Police, the David-Bocas road is now closed for one to three months with at least 30 places that are impassable. Bocas is without power, cell phones, landline phones and water.

According to him, some cell phones and some landlines are now working.

Five years ago, I visited Bocas on my original tour of Costa Rica.  While there are apparently some who appreciate what it has to offer, it was my first taste of Caribbean Central America and I did not like the taste: high humidity, overly assertive locals, difficult-to-reach properties.

I am much happier on the Pacific side of Central America.
