How to expedite your residency request in Costa Rica
Expediting your residency request in Costa Rica
For those who obtain “El numero de Expediente” for any residency requiest: permanent residentcy, work permit or temporary residency, you can visit http www gobiernofacil.go.cr/weblinks/index.aspx and submit your “numero de expediente or numero de solicitud."
Once you click to enter the information a pop up screen will appear. (Turn down your pop-up blockers!) If it does not, then your request was not property entered into the database. If this is the case you must submit a new request using the new system, no exceptions.
If the pop-up screen says “recibido” then submission was done properly and is registered with the state department. Once it has been accepted you will be notified by the requested method of contact.
If the pop-up screen does not show a green check mark then there is additional documentation required to advance your residency request.

Hi Max,
Your link is broken. Can you fix it?
Do you think it's possible at present to get residency completely without a lawyer? When I talked to one immigration officer six months ago, he seemed to think it was possible. The harder part to me sounded like collecting the required documents from the U.S. which would be easier done from inside the U.S.
