another expat Honduras report
Another report from an expat in Honduras: http://myroatan.blogspot.com/2009/07/more-radio.html - most of what I've been reading from the Honduras Living yahoo group have been similarly cogent in recognizing the problems of their despot. This isn't to say that the interim government officers are above corruption, or even necessarily less corrupt than their despot (I don't know one way or the other).
I always support expats who speak truthfully about their adopted countries.
New Mayor of Sna Pedro Sula, Honduras
Coup “President” Installs Nephew as “Mayor” of Honduras’ Second City
Central Committee Party Line
Here's the other side of the argument, http://www.counterpunch.org/thorensen07012009.html - written by Alberto Valiente Sorenson (interesting name!) of the Norwegian Solidarity Committee with Latin America which sounds like a Communist cell if I've ever heard of one. While it's not very correct from my point of view, it's certainly clever. Might as well share both sides of the story, so enjoy!
law enforcement or coup
Here's a good article about the question of whether Zelaya's removal is a law enforcement action or a coup: http://www.csmonitor.com/2009/0702/p09s03-coop.html
La Gringa Reports
Some news from Honduras today - http://lagringasblogicito.blogspot.com/2009/06/we-dont-want-to-be-cuba.html - I tend to agree with La Gringa that the apparent support for Zelaya by Obama seems odd. Reading her piece made me a little nervous - for instance, what if Zelaya does go back - would he consider her a friend or enemy? It's courageous to take such a stance, living in the country. I also thought about whether or not reporting - and also opining as an expatriate - are meddling in the foreign affairs of another country. I personally stand behind free speech on the question.
called that one
you sure called that one!@
with a set of headlines like those in that newspaper, there is no turning back - the paper is 100% behind the coup also.
