Homemade Drill Press in Costa Rica

I was chatting with a Tico friend of mine a few days ago, and he started to tell me about the homemade drill press he had made.

Well, I was curious to see what he had come up with.  Indeed, it was just as promised: a random AC motor, probably out of a washing machine; a gear-reduction unit that took the speed down to about 1 rev every 3 seconds, and a home-made chuck tightening setup.  Take a look.
