The Never-Finished House

When I bought the farm in Diriamba, Carazo, Nicaragua in 2004, it had these walls that had been built thirty years earlier.  The stone had been quarried in that same farm.  The house had never been finished because when the Sandinistas took over, they began confiscating cattle one by one and the owner had stopped his investment, fearing that the farm itself would be confiscated.  As it turns out, none of the farm was ever confiscated, although many, including Daniel Ortega himself, were part of efforts to confiscate it, and almost succeeded.  I wasn't sure whether I would do anything with these walls at first.  Inside the walls, the rooms were at different levels, and full of large plants. - Peter Christopher
